Hot stone massage is a deep, long ritual in which heated volcanic basalt stones are combined with manual massage.
The gentle warmth of the stones reaches the deep layers of the muscles; it supports blood circulation, releases tension and soothes the nervous system. The stones are placed on the body's energy points, creating a rhythmic relaxation together with the manual work.
Volcanic basalt is the preferred stone for this massage thanks to its capacity to hold heat for a long time and its smooth surface. The session proceeds in two parts: in the first half the stones are placed along the spine and the heat spreads deep into the body. In the second half the therapist turns the stones into a manual massage tool; with gliding, circular pressure and gentle traction, the heat softens the muscle tissue.
The 90-minute session is especially recommended for those who need warmth in the winter months, for guests with heavy muscle fatigue and for those seeking a deep experience of surrender. It is not advised in cases of heart conditions, uncontrolled blood pressure, pregnancy, recent injury or skin irritation; in these cases a classic Swedish or aromatherapy massage is a safer choice.
